My Grandfather was a nephew of his, he had some old pictures of the McCools in Canada and often told me stories about Frank's hockey career and also about Dan, who saved two crew members on the ship he was travelling to Canada on. Apparently, he noticed smoke coming from a room on the ship and upon going to investigate, discovered to crew members unconscious on the floor. He carried them to safety and was rewarded with free travel for life by the shipping company. This enabled him to do something which the vast majority of irish emigrants at the time were not able to do, namely to come back and visit his relatives in Ireland a few years later.<br />Incidently, ulcers and stomach problems of various kinds are prevelant in a lot of men in our family.
